Radio Maisha is a Swahili broadcast radio station established in Nairobi in 2010.

It is owned by the Standard Media Group, and provides news, entertainment, politics, and sports programs.

Thanks to its talented radio presenters, this station now ranks no. 2 in Kenya.

1. Ann Njogu

Affectionately known as Mtoto wa Mama, Ann is not only a presenter, she’s also an activist and a holder of the 2010 International Women of Courage award.

She believes in empowering women, and as a result, she founded Center for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) in the late ’90s.

Before joining radio, she worked as a legal officer at Madison Insurance Company, and later their chief legal officer.

 The award-winning Radio Maisha presenter hosts the Staarabika show that runs from 10 am to 12 pm.

She is passionate about her work, which is obvious from how she uses her show to educate and empower people.

At times, she hosts the show out on the streets, interviewing small business owners.

Ann is married, with two kids: a girl, and a boy.

2. Anthony Ndiema

In his bio, Anthony introduces himself with different titles: a father, husband, media personality, and radio & TV host.

The father of four recently rose to the rank of head of the station after two of Radio Maisha’s presenters of 13 years quit.

 At the time of his promotion to the top office, Ndiema was away pursuing further studies at Daystar University.

Before, he was the head of programs at Radio Maisha.

He has won many awards, including three consecutive Groove Awards for radio presenter of the year.

Ndiema has been married to Nenoh, a gospel music artist, for 13 years.

3. Clemmo

Famously known as Clemmo, Clement Mlekenyi joined Radio Maisha in 2014.

He hosts the Konnect show with Mwende Macharia that airs from 12 pm to 3 pm, where they invite different DJs, upcoming artists and other personalities.

Growing up, Clemmo aspired to be a teacher, and later shifted his interest to becoming a soldier. His mother’s desire was for him to pursue a career in medicine.

When his attempts to join he military failed after several trials, he decided to pursue Media and Communication studies at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. After graduating, he ventured into a variety of casual jobs before landing his job at Radio Maisha.

Clemmo is married to Suzzane, and is a father of two.

4. Gathoni 

Gathoni Njuguna, also known by her stage name This Is Gathoni, started her career in acting in 2013, doing Kikuyu and English stage plays at the Kenya National Theater.

Having worked at Fish FM as a radio presenter, Gathoni had a bit of experience in radio.

A member of the audience at one of her stage plays took notice of her voice, and while complimenting her, told her of a position at the Standard Group LTD, where she sent an email without hesitation.

She began her career at Radio Maisha working alongside Ann Njogu hosting the Staarabika show. She has also co-hosted the Maisha Countdown show.

Currently, she hosts the Maisha Cocktail show that runs from 10 pm to 1 am with co-host Kassim Mbui.

She shares a daughter with partner, Murunyu Duncan.

5. Kassim Mbui

Kassim started his radio career when he first joined Pili Pili FM in Mombasa in 2014 and worked there till 2019 when he moved to Radio Simba, based in Western Kenya.

There he worked as a radio presenter for 3 years.

He joined the Radio Maisha team two months ago where he co-host of the Maisha Cocktail late-night show alongside Gathoni.

6. Hassan Umar

This talented young man is known for his style in fashion, with an all-time vibrant personality.

 He hosts the Klub Maisha show that airs every Saturday from 7 pm to 12 am, and Maisha Xtra show that runs Monday through Friday starting from 1 am to 4 am.

7. Nzula Makosi

Nzula formerly worked at Switch TV, and hosted the Milele Drive show at Radio Maisha before leaving in March 2018 to focus on her business and motherhood.

Currently, she is hosting the Maisha Jioni show alongside Wycliffe Okumu.

8. Mwende Macharia

Mwende is a former gospel artist born in Ukunda Mombasa County.

She first joined radio as an intern at Baraka FM based in Mombasa.

She later joined Seikh FM. She is the co-host of Konnect show.

9. Solomon Zully

With 13 years of experience in the industry, Zully’s voice has captivated the hearts of many over the years.

He worked as a broadcaster for 8 years at Radio Salaam and later joined Sauti ya Pwani FM where he hosted the morning show, Sauti Asubuhi, and the evening talk show.

He also worked at Radio Kaya hosting the breakfast show Voroni Enehu (good morning brothers and sisters).

Since his joining Radio Maisha early this year, Zully has been hosting the Maisha Asubuhi breakfast show alongside Shugaboy.
