Lion’s Salary at Radio Jambo

Mbusii and Lion have become household names, thanks to their incredible chemistry and entertaining ‘sheng vibe,’ which has revolutionized the country’s radio sector.

Their show (Teke Teke show) which airs on Radio Jambo every weekday from 3 pm to 7 pm, is one of the most popular radio programs nationwide.

Who is Lion Deh?

Although he is popularly known as Lion Deh, the presenter’s legal names are Cyrus Afune.

Many Kenyans recognize him since he has been working alongside Mbusii as his’ co-host for quite some time.

Their working relationship blossomed at Ghetto Radio alongside Bonoko; however, when Mbusii was offered a lucrative deal meant to lure him to one of Radio Africa Group’s stations (Radio Jambo), he was only accompanied by Lion Deh.

Mbusii (Daniel Githinji) revealed this information during an interview at Jessy Junction’s show in October 2020.

After receiving the offer, he first approached Bonoko (his main co-host at Ghetto radio), but the presenter was unwilling to leave.

He then informed Lion Deh, who was willing to risk it all, and that is how the dynamic duo ended up at Radio Jambo.

Lion Deh’s Salary at Radio Jambo

Back in 2022, in an interview with Mpasho, Lion revealed that his first salary in the radio scene was KSH. 20,000.

It was the highest amount of money he had ever been paid at the time, and he jokingly said that after receiving the wages, his entire neighborhood referred to him as ‘Chairman.’

Their Teke Teke show on radio Jambo has an impressive rating nationally as it is one of the most listened-to shows in Kenya.

Therefore, it is logical that his salary is also substantial, although it is lower than that of Mbusii.

According to reliable sources, Lion Deh receives a gross pay of KSH. 300,000, although the presenter has never confirmed nor made this information public.

Due to his fame, he is a highly sought-after MC at reggae shows and events in the country.

As an MC, he can pocket an average of Ksh.20, 000 per show, but it depends on the type of event and the corporate sponsors involved.

Below is a comprehensive analysis of his salary at Radio Jambo according to the latest KRA wages and PAYE calculations.
