Contrary to what her name suggests, Ken the Man is actually a lady with a masculine rapping force.
The budding rapper became popular after her song “Not My Nigga” went viral on TikTok in 2022. The next year, she signed her music deal with Roc Nation.
Her stage name is actually an alter ego and it reflects her personality and presence on stage.
Ken the Man Is of Black American Ethnicity
Kentavia Miller, popularly known as Ken the Man, was born to a black mother and father in 1994 in Houston, Texas.
The rapper has managed to keep her life private while sharing very little about her upbringing. But we do know that she was raised by her dad who influenced the rapper’s perspective on life.
The fact that she was raised by her dad gave her a man’s ego; after all, she saw the world through her dad’s eyes.
Therefore, in many ways Kentavia is “The Man” and her stage presence and force has been described as masculine.
The Northside baby, as she calls herself, attended Eisen Hower, Dekaney, and Westfield high schools.
While young she sang in the church choir and wrote poetry. She even won an award for her poems when she was in grade 3.
After finishing high school, she joined a local college, but dropped out. She re-enrolled later for a music course.
Kentavia dropped out of college again after she realized that her approach to becoming a better rapper wasn’t working. But she did promise her father that she would enroll if rapping couldn’t work out.
While developing her career, she worked as a waitress, but she needed a job where she could also write her songs, so she started delivering food for Uber Eats and Door Dash. She said that she got the job so that she could write her tracks in the car.
Kentavia said that she even wrote her hit song “He be like” in 2019 in her car while delivering food.
She followed that hit with her debut “EP4 Da 304’s” an exceptional 10-track which she claims that she wrote “strictly for the hoes.”
Ken the Man is a Mother
Kentavia is a mother to her 10 years old son who she loves. She adores her child and hates being away from him while she is on tour.
