6 Celebrities Who’ve Had Trigeminal Neuralgia

Celebrities are people just like us; therefore, they can be affected by the same illnesses affecting us including trigeminal neuralgia.

So if you experience some pain when brushing your teeth, speaking, or chewing then you’re not alone. A number of celebrities have spoken about their struggle with this condition.

Trigeminal neuralgia triggers intense pain resembling electric shock affecting one side of your face.

This chronic pain condition can be long-lasting and is common among folks over 50 years old.

Many people have managed the condition with painkillers and brain surgery. Some of the celebrities that have been affected by trigeminal neuralgia include:

1. Salman Khan

Salman Khan has openly talked about being diagnosed with this condition in 2007.

He had experienced the pain for about 4 years and used some medication to manage it.

But after the pain on his jaw became unbearable, he decided not to dismiss it anymore and look for further medication.

So he underwent a nerve surgery in the U.S. in 2011.

2. Christy Toye

What seemed like an earache, back in 2012, developed into a serious condition that made life hard for Christy Toye, the All Ireland footballer.

In fact, putting on his gear was a problem and a slight breeze can trigger this aching sensation.

Toye was later diagnosed with this condition and treated.

3. Author Melissa Seymour

Seymour, the popular author and entrepreneur, was diagnosed with this condition in 2009.

She underwent a surgery to fix it, but it was unsuccessful.

Unfortunately, she contracted meningitis which worsened the condition. She underwent another surgery 18 months later and it was a success.

Another author that has undergone this condition is Gloria Steinem, the author of the top seller book titled “My Life on the Road.”
