Morgan’s number 1 fan is Lesli Morgan, his mother. Lesli was his inspiration when he wrote “Thought You Should Know.” During the 2022 Billboard Music Award, Lesli said that she cried when she first heard the song that served as Morgan’s tribute to her.
The second time she heard the song, she asked “who’s the girl from Jefferson City?” while referencing the song’s lyrics. Lesli accompanied her son for the event and she told Entertainment Tonight that she was just humbled that he would write the song for her.
Morgan explained to Entertainment Tonight that the girl isn’t around. He hoped that Lesli is worrying less about him since he is making better decisions. Morgan was caught using racial slurs back in January 2021, but the birth of his son saved him amid the scandal.

Despite her son’s popularity, Lesli has managed to keep a low profile over the last few years. Lesli has accompanied her son to a number of public events honoring him, but very little is known about her private life.
She is married to Tommy, a local pastor and they have 4 children with Morgan being the oldest. Morgan has 3 younger sisters Lacey, Mikaela, and Ashlyne. Lesli and Tommy adopted Lacey in 2021 and the family fell in love with her instantly.
