Every country song lover knows Morgan Wallen; after all, he has broken several country music records. Morgan’s second album was the first country album to spend 7 weeks at number 1 in the Billboard 200 in 64 years. The only other album to do that was “Whitney” by Whitney Houston in 1987.
Morgan debuted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs in 2016 with his hit “The Way I Talk.” This hit was followed by “Up Down” which he released in 2017. “Up Down” topped the Country Airplay after being released and catapulted him to stardom.
But you probably know him from The Voice (season 6) where he was part of Usher’s and latter Adam Levine’s team. Morgan may have been eliminated in the playoffs, but he has managed to build an exceptional career for himself.
Morgan has produced 3 studio albums with his third one breaking a number of records. The album has 36 songs that entered the Billboard Hot 100 with “Last Night” becoming his first track to top the Hot 100.
His unique contribution to the industry has made him a legend, which means we’re finally ready to learn more about his life, particularly, his mother.
Who is Morgan Wallen’s Mother?
Morgan’s number 1 fan is Lesli Morgan, his mother. Lesli was his inspiration when he wrote “Thought You Should Know.” During the 2022 Billboard Music Award, Lesli said that she cried when she first heard the song that served as Morgan’s tribute to her.
The second time she heard the song, she asked “who’s the girl from Jefferson City?” while referencing the song’s lyrics. Lesli accompanied her son for the event and she told Entertainment Tonight that she was just humbled that he would write the song for her.
Morgan explained to Entertainment Tonight that the girl isn’t around. He hoped that Lesli is worrying less about him since he is making better decisions. Morgan was caught using racial slurs back in January 2021, but the birth of his son saved him amid the scandal.
Wallen attributed his success to his mother who gave him his initial start. He said that he wouldn’t be where he is right now without her. The Tennessee singer admitted that she was the one who introduced him to the stage when he was 3 years old.
Morgan thanked his mother on stage after he received his Top Country Male Artist award and said he wouldn’t be where he is currently without her.
Lesli Wallen Is Married to Tommy Wallen
Despite her son’s popularity, Lesli has managed to keep a low profile over the last few years. Lesli has accompanied her son to a number of public events honoring him, but very little is known about her private life.
She is married to Tommy, a local pastor and they have 4 children with Morgan being the oldest. Morgan has 3 younger sisters Lacey, Mikaela, and Ashlyne. Lesli and Tommy adopted Lacey in 2021 and the family fell in love with her instantly.
Mikaela, Ashley, and Morgan were all born in Sneedsville, which is where his love for singing took root.
The Wallens relocated to Knoxville when Morgan was in high school, which is where they live to date. This is why Morgan told Nashvile Lifestyles that he has never lived in another state and he is proud to represent Tennessee.
Lesli is a Teacher
She is a teacher, but we are not sure if she has retired or is still teaching in Tennessee. Lesli worked as a 2nd grade teacher at a local school while her kids were growing up.
How Old Is Morgan Wallen’s Mother?
Lesli is reported to have been born in 1966, which makes her about 57 years old.
Her husband is believed to be around the same age and still serving as a pastor. Other than her career and age, very little is known about Lesli Wallen.
Tommy, Morgan’s dad, may be a pastor, but he does support his son’s career and has even accompanied him to some events.
