9 Celebrities Who Have Been Diagnosed With Sciatica

Sciatica flare-ups can be quite debilitating; they can make it difficult for you to function or even walk. Some individuals have been forced to use a wheelchair or a walker after experiencing a flare-up.

The condition is caused by pressure or injuries to your sciatic nerve. This nerve stretches from your back to both legs and controls muscle movement.

So, when pressed or injured, it can make it hard for you to move around. It can be caused by tumors, pelvic injury, spinal stenosis and herniated or slipped disc.

Now that we know the cause of sciatica, let’s explore some of the celebrities who have been affected by this condition.

1. Adele

Back in 2023, Adele collapsed backstage in Las Vegas during her residency after suffering from sciatica flare up. Adele told her fans that she was suffering from a sciatica flare up that made it hard for her to walk.

Her team had to pick her off the floor at the Ceasars Palace’s Colosseum.

In a certain video, Adele hobbled off the stage after talking with a fan. When asked about what happened she said that she has to waddle since she has a bad sciatica flare up that made it hard for her to walk.

2. Mike Tyson

Tyson revealed that he also suffers from a nerve impacting condition that can make it hard for him to talk or walk.

In a recent interview, he said that the sciatica flares up can be quite debilitating and it has made it hard for him to talk.

But he thanked God and said that sciatica is the only health issue affecting him.

3. Whoopi Goldberg

Back in 2021, Goldberg revealed that she is battling sciatica and it has left her in pain and needed a walker to move around.

Whoopi had been away from the limelight for months as she was fighting this painful condition.

Whoopi’s condition was caused by a bulging disc that pressed her sciatic nerve resulting in a pain that made it impossible for her to walk.

4. George Clooney

After getting injured while onset in 2005, he was left with an injury that left him in pain. He underwent many spinal surgeries, to deal with the spinal injury. But even after the surgeries he still got pain flare-ups.

Clooney used alcohol and painkillers to cope with the pain. Finally, he had to undergo a spinal fusion surgery that alleviated the severe symptoms and pain that made it hard for him to work.

5. Sylvester Stallone

Another celebrity who had sciatica at some point in his career was Sylvester Stallone.

 During an interview with Larry King, Sylvester shared that he developed sciatica among other conditions while acting.

The pain was an outcome of an injury during his career and he has undergone various spinal fusion surgeries.  

6. Jeniffer Aniston

The Friends star has also suffered from sciatica flare ups that made life hard for her.

Fortunately, she has used yoga to manage the pain caused by this condition while maintaining flexibility.

Her battle with this condition shows the importance of flexibility when dealing with sciatica.

7. Dwayne Johnson

The wrestler, who managed to create a successful career as an actor, has also suffered from sciatica.

Wrestlers get several injuries while wrestling and the Rock is no exception.

Despite the pain, he has managed to create a successful career for himself.

8. Katie Andre

Popularly known as Jordan, a glamour model, Katie Andre has also suffered from sciatica.

Andre revealed that during her pregnancies, the pain left her immobile for months.

She said that she couldn’t walk while pregnant with her son, but it got even worse when she got pregnant again with her other child.

9. Tiger Woods

Athletes have been known to get injured while playing or training and Tiger Woods is no exception.

Tiger has undergone a number of surgeries to deal with back issues including bulging spasm, sciatica, and back spasm.

Due to some of his surgeries, his bottom lower-back disc narrowed resulting in sciatica.

He underwent a surgery back in 2017 to deal with the back pain that made it hard for him to walk.
